Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
If you’ve ever watched a traditional Jiu Jitsu match, you were probably witnessing Gi Jiu Jitsu! Gi Jiu Jitsu is most identifiable by the clothing worn – a Gi, pants, and a belt. But this clothing is about more than looks. It actually changes the way the martial art is practiced! In Gi Jiu Jitsu you can grab your opponent’s clothes during grappling, which contributes to a slower pace that leaves you with more time to think through your next move.

Fitness
With such a fast pace, you’ll be burning tons of calories while practicing adults BJJ. While BJJ is likely to help you shed a few pounds, it’s going to make you a stronger athlete in every respect. Jiu Jitsu is known for increasing flexibility, building muscle mass, quickening reflexes, and improving coordination. If you’re a multi-sport athlete, Jiu Jitsu is about to become your best friend.
Grappling
While many martial art disciplines incorporate grappling here and there, when it comes to BJJ, grappling is at the core of all of your training. Not familiar with grappling? Here’s what you need to know – instead of utilizing weapons or striking, grappling is all about getting your opponent to concede through physical dominance. The rules and techniques of grappling vary depending on whether one is practicing Gi or No-Gi Jiu Jitsu, as well as whether it’s being done in a sport or self-defense style. When grappling in BJJ, you’ll spend the majority of your time fighting from the ground and will likely utilize many different types of chokes.
Self-Defense
Made for the real world, BJJ is a form of self defense that every person should master. BJJ focuses on ground level altercations – utilizing holds, throws, and a variety of submission techniques. This makes Jiu Jitsu ideal when learning how to take on an opponent who may be larger than you, without necessarily having to hurt them.
Positive Environment
You’ll love BJJ because we love BJJ. At Mission Grappling Club, we are passionate about sharing the gift of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with our community. We aim to create an environment where every single student has the ability to accomplish their goals – whatever they may be. It doesn’t matter if you’ve spent your entire life training in MMA and are exploring your newest martial arts discipline or you’re just trying to break away from the gym, we will exceed your expectations.
Community
From the moment anyone steps into our building, they will be met with a supportive and inclusive environment of instructors and fellow students who want them to succeed. Because students regularly spar each other in class, you may be surprised to learn just how strong the friendships in our BJJ classes are. Jiu Jitsu teaches students the thrill of winning as well as the humility of losing. We make sure our students respect each other throughout all the highs and lows of training.
No-Gi
When practicing No-Gi adults BJJ, you’ll shed your uniform for stretchy athletic wear, such as shorts and a rash guard. Without the lapel and collar of a kimono to grab hold of, No-Gi Jiu Jitsu is much faster and requires quick thinking. While it’s up for you to decide, many feel that No-Gi BJJ is better when it comes to preparing for real-life altercations.
